Following the devastating attack against members of the Jewish community in Golders Green yesterday, the Bishops of Birmingham and Aston have written to the city's Jewish leaders to share their concern and prayers for Birmingham’s Jewish community:
“Grace and peace to you.
“In light of yet another attack on members of the Jewish community in our country, we are writing simply to say that we stand with you in sorrow, in concern, and in steadfast friendship.
“We are deeply grieved that such hatred continues to find expression in acts of violence and intimidation. It is an affront not only to those directly affected, but to the shared life we seek to build in this nation, one marked by dignity, mutual respect, and the safeguarding of every community.
“Please know that you are not alone. We value deeply the relationships we share with you in Birmingham, and we remain committed to walking alongside you. We are holding you in our prayers, praying for comfort for those directly affected, those who are shaken, strength for your community, and wisdom for all who carry responsibility for peace and justice.
“At times like this, words can feel inadequate. But we hope our offer of friendship, solidarity, and presence bring some consolation.
