Kids Pastor (GS St Luke's)

Key Objectives:
The Kids Pastor (GS St Luke's) will have pastoral oversight of children (0-11) who attend Gas Street St Luke's. They will be responsible for delivering the weekly programme of kids work at Gas Street St Luke's in collaboration with the Head of Kids & Families as well as recruiting, envisioning, and raising up a team of capable, passionate, and committed volunteers. 

They will implement the vision of Gas Street Kids with a remit for growth and future development as well as building on the existing platform of Kids and Families work outside of Sundays; nurturing families on their faith journey by creating, implementing and developing new missional opportunities.


Key areas of responsibility:

  • Pastoral care of kids (0-11’s) at Gas Street St Luke's
  • Recruit, train, equip and lead a team of volunteers; empowering them to use their own strengths and gifts.
  • Coordinate and work with other staff members to engage the local community and families in activities and events (e.g. holiday clubs, pop-up events, outreach work)
  • Facilitate and lead the Sunday programme at GS St Luke's, working with other team members where appropriate
  • Facilitate and lead the special events, working with other team members where appropriate, including Worship for Everyone, Easter and Christmas gatherings
  • Organise rotas and team for Kids groups on Sundays & other activities
  • Lead termly team nights
  • Communicate with parents and families to build relationships and deepen connection
  • Contribute to planning and preparation of curriculum and resources 
  • As a key member of the team you will attend regular meetings (including prayer meetings) with ministry, staff, departments and volunteer teams
  • Contribute to Worship for Everyone gatherings
  • Foster relationships with local schools to include leading assemblies, special events, services and supporting the delivery of lessons
  • Work with the Head of Kids and Families to develop new ministry opportunities, with a particular focus on Parenting for Faith.
  • Other general support to the Gas Street Kids Team as needed

Person Specification:

  • A heart and passion for the worship of Jesus Christ
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Experience of Children’s work, preferably in a Church setting
  • Passionate to see children and young people grow spiritually in the love and
    worship of Jesus Christ and in their love for one another and their community
  • Ability to engage and inspire children and young people, build trust and gain
    Respect
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Be flexible and innovative, able to adapt to changing circumstances and to
    develop new ways of working
  • Ability to juggle a broad range of responsibilities
  • An open heart and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Good time management skills with proven ability to prioritise workload
  • Good administrative skills
  • A willingness to work with Gas Street’s values
  • Personal walk with Jesus underpinning a lifestyle of integrity
  • There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post-holder be a practising Christian
  • This role will require an enhanced DBS check

Working requirements:

  • Part-time, 2.5 days a week (18.75 hours)
  • 12.5 days annual leave

+ statutory bank holidays

+ three additional days at Christmas during office closure

+ 3 retreat days across the year

  • Attend Gas Street Church
  • Evening and weekend flexibility as required
