The Church of England Birmingham has a great property team who are here to support us in all our building and land related matters. They are a friendly bunch who have created a short video so we can get to know a bit more about them and what they do.
The Property Team can provide the following support:
Support PCCs in maintenance and sustainabitity of listed church building
Advice on management and development projects
Support for grant applications
This role is part funded 50% by Historic England with a focus on specific listed buildings, however Ian is happy to share his in depth knowledge with other listed and non-listed buildings within the diocese.
Carry out property inspections and oversee the management of Quinquennial Inspection functions including: the identification of building defects and recommended remedial solutions;
Oversee the management of vacant properties, ensuring that clergy houses are let to maximise income during an interregnum and that the annual budget is delivered;
Oversee ingoing and outgoing meetings with clergy and Archdeacons. Lead and manage clergy housing improvement projects as required;
Assist with implementing various programmes of planned, cyclical and legislative maintenance for clergy housing based upon the five-yearly inspection quinquennial inspection reports.
Organise Church property reactive repairs and maintenance on behalf of PCCs, which will involve managing a wide range of suppliers and building contractors.
Assist with implementing various programmes of planned, cyclical and legislative maintenance for churches based upon their five-yearly inspection report.
Assist condition surveys of ancillary building and relevant statutory compliance responsibilities for all operational buildings.
