Young Life & Families Pastor – Outreach (part time)
Vision for role:
As a church we are passionate about mission and communicating God’s love through actively serving our community. We are looking for someone who has a passion to see young people and families connect with church, become followers of Jesus, explore their gifting’s and flourish as part of the wider church. This new role is vital in ensuring that we continue to resource and expand our existing children and young people’s work both during our Sunday gatherings and to ‘be the light’ in our community through creative and diverse ways throughout the week. The Lighthouse Young Life & Families Pastor for Outreach will be working under the kind management of Gemma, our Young Life & Families Pastor for Discipleship. They will work alongside our existing leaders and teams to support and develop our missional initiatives and ministries to serve children, young people and their families across our communities. They will proactively contribute to the developing vision of the church to expand and express our desire to be light in our communities. They will be a key part in the recruitment, training and mobilising of volunteers and teams to serve in Lighthouse Kids, Youth and the wider mission in schools, drop-ins and events. It is essential that prayer is an underpinning foundation to all that they do; participating in corporate and team prayer as we seek to follow where God leads us. Lighthouse currently has a Worship for Everyone gathering at least once a term, with Lighthouse Kids (for reception - year 6) and Lighthouse Youth (for year 7 - 13) meeting on the remaining Sundays, Fortnightly, on a Friday, we run a toddler group called Little Lights which is seeing growing numbers of families attending. We partner with local charity Urban Devotion Birmingham, to run drop-ins for families and youth back-to-back on a Thursday. Those who connect to these events are almost exclusively from outside of our regular church community which is very exciting. There’s also a growing connection with two local Primary schools, and we would love to become a bigger part of their school calendar. We are excited to add this new role to our team, increasing the support for children, young people and their families both from within the church and our local community. We are only 3 years in and already so encouraged by how God is at work in our congregation and communities. This role will be pivotal in the continued growth and mission to share the light of Jesus within our church and community!
Key Objectives:
It is vital to help families and children from our community get to know Jesus and to become part of the family of God. We need a Jesus- centered, creative person to join us at this early point in our formation to take responsibility for what is already in place and continue to develop discipleship for children at Lighthouse and in our community.
