Update to Churchyard Regulations expected in September 2026
The Chancellor of the Diocese has made a legal order – known as an Additional Matters Order – and issued new Churchyard Regulations that will be applicable across Church of England Birmingham.
These new regulations will replace any current local arrangements when they come into force on 29 September 2026.
In the meantime, the existing 2006 Churchyard Regulations remain in force:
Applications for Memorials and Grave Space Reservations
If a parish receives enquiries from individuals who wish to apply for a Private Faculty to install a new memorial in a churchyard not permitted by the Regulations, or reserve a grave space, please contact Debbie Jones (Registry Clerk) for the application form.
