Activate Deanery Youth Hub

20th October 2021

Activate is a series of events and youth ministry designed and led by young people for young people. Activate aims to create a community of young people rooted in their local church, friendship, and their faith with a heart for mission across their city.

Young people from across the Kings Norton, Mosely, and Shirley Deanery had an evening at Blackwell Adventure that started with them flying down a giant zip wire. All the young people met the challenge and stepped off the platform to zip down the extremely long wire!

We then moved on to the cooking, lighting our fires and cooking dough twists and S’mores (marshmallows and chocolate biscuits) above the open fire. Whilst we cooked, we discussed various questions such as,

  • What does it mean for you to be created by God? How does this play a part in your life?
  • How do you feel about prayer? Is it hard or easy for you?
  • Have you ever invited a friend to church? If so, how did it go?

After cooking we took the opportunity to gaze into the clear night sky for a time of prayer considering the vastness of creation and the vastness of God’s love for each of us. We finished with ‘Night Line’ where the young people followed a cord around and through a variety of obstacles whilst blindfolded supporting, encourageing, and communicating with each other.

A huge thanks go to the leaders, churches, and young people from across Kings Norton, Moseley, and Shirley Deanery who encouraged the young people to come along, everyone had a brilliant time.

If you are interested in supporting an Activate youth ministry event in your deanery or have a vision for the discipleship of young people in your church, please do get in touch with Adam Larkin.
