After the excitement of Euro 2020 and yesterday’s Final at Wembley, I am saddened and dismayed by racially motivated criticism directed at players. Sporting events bind us together in our diverse nation. As we emerge slowly from the COVID pandemic, to participate safely in such activities together again, it is both my hope and determination to encourage a just world for all to enjoy, where this intimidating and demeaning abuse is wholly unacceptable.
