John Templeman
Deputy Property Director
- Deputy Property Director and Chartered Building Surveyor: Deputises for and supports the Property Director. Oversees the day-to-day work of the Clergy Housing Team, Care of Churches Officer and Net Zero Project Manager.
- Maintenance and Development: Advises on clergy housing and residential property together with offering support on construction-related projects for church buildings. Oversees existing programmes of planned, cyclical, and legislative compliance.
- Professional Consultancy: Undertakes professional consultancy, contract administration services and party wall services of larger capital projects.
Alice Latham
Care of Churches Officer
- Provide advice on Church Building Conservation: Provide expert guidance on preserving historic church buildings, ensuring compliance with heritage and ecclesiastical regulations.
- Secretary to the Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC): Facilitate communication between parishes and the DAC streamlining the faculty application process and overseeing maintenance and repair projects.
- Secretary to the BDTR and Clerk of Works to the DPMC.
- Supporting parishes: Offer practical support and training to parishes, while maintaining detailed records of faculty applications, DAC advice, and ongoing projects. Includes grant administration.
Ben Smith
Net Zero Carbon Project Manager
- Net Zero Action Planning: Support parishes with high energy-using buildings in developing plans to make buildings more efficient and work towards net zero carbon emissions.
- Heating project support: Offer initial advice to parishes considering replacement of heating systems, with the aim of moving away from reliance on fossil fuel-based heating where appropriate. Support parishes in developing and delivering these projects.
- Grant funding assistance: Advise and support parishes in seeking and applying to relevant grant funders for projects to make church buildings and halls more environmentally sustainable.
Richard Hall
Clergy Housing Surveyor
- Repairs and Maintenance of Clergy Housing: Day to day management of all reactive repairs to clergy housing. Planning and management of repairs and improvement works for incoming clergy. Management and coordination of contractors' works. Support with coordinating and implementing planned maintenance works.
- Housing Support: Providing support, advice and guidance to occupying clergy and parishes during interregnum with any clergy housing or residential property-related queries.
- Rental Portfolio: Management of rental portfolio.
Andy Schofield
Parish Building Surveyor
- Property and Environmental Management: Provide expert guidance and support for the maintenance, development, and statutory compliance of church buildings, churchyards, and the management of Quinquennial Inspections and other church-owned properties.
- Energy Efficiency and Carbon Reduction: Assist in developing and implementing action plans and projects to achieve net zero carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency in church properties.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Plan and manage both planned and reactive maintenance programs for churches & church-owned properties, coordinate with contractors and assess QI reports to produce schedules of works.
Elizabeth Thomson
Places of Worship Support Officer
- Historic Building Conservation: Advise on minor maintenance/repairs to large-scale restoration projects. Identifying suitable contractors for conservation-led works and support parishes with planned and reactive maintenance.
- Statements of Significance & Need: Working with parishes to understand the significance of their churches in terms of their history, and heritage and to enhance their position in the local community as a focus for tourism and visitors. Acts as an advocate for the built heritage with partner organisations and wider communities.
- Grant Funding Assistance: Supporting parishes to identify sources of funding for maintenance, repairs, interpretation and development projects.
- Heritage at Risk: Identifying places of worship that should be considered for the Heritage at Risk Register and monitoring those already on the Register. Supporting congregations with 'at Risk' buildings.
